AAUW Healdsburg Branch
Breaking through Barriers for Women and Girls
SCHOLARSHIPS
Healdsburg AAUW is proud to award $26,600 in scholarships for the
2009-2010 year. We support the following groups:

Tech Trek

Tech Trek is a week-long residential camp for girls entering 8th grade that focuses on math, science and technology.  There are 8 camps held throughout California for girls who have been nominated by science or math teachers and then interviewed and chosen by AAUW members.  The Healdsburg branch raises funds to send several girls each year to Stanford and Sonoma State Universities.  Several of our members have enjoyed their volunteer experience as dorm mothers.  Contact Tami Wiener-Stout, Tech Trek for more information.
AAUW Funds (Formerly called Educational Foundation or EF)
The AAUW Funds provides educational opportunities and equity for women and girls
through research and support of fellowship and grant programs, including International
Fellowships, American Fellowships, Selected Professional Fellowships, Research and
Projects Grants.

A special fund of the Foundations is the Eleanor Roosevelt Fund for Women and girls, which as supported teacher fellows and research on gender equity in education since 1988. AAUW has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the globe.  One of the world's largest sources of funding for graduate women, AAUW is providing more than $3 million in funding for more than 200 fellowships and grants to outstanding women and non-profit organizations in the 2009-10 academic year.  Due to the longstanding generous contributions of AAUW members across the U.S., a broader community of women continues to gain access to educational and economic opportunities -- breaking through educational economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance.  For more information contact Jan Garwin, our local AAUW Funds Coordinator.

Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC)
Over the last 5 years, the Healdsburg Branch has awarded more than $40,000 in scholarships to re-entry women graduating from SRJC and continuing their education.  These women have been accepted at a four-year college and are carefully screened by our scholarship committee.  Most of these women have struggled to return to college and are most deserving of our awards. Contact Joyce Scramaglia for more information.
Healdsburg Education Foundation (HEF)
The Healdsburg Education Foundation, HEF, is a privately funded, non-profit organization whose mission is to raise money in the community to directly benefit the schoolchildren of all Healdsburg and Alexander Valley public schools.  Since its inception, HEF has made a real difference through its many programs. Twenty-five percent of our Branch's net income from the annual Historic Healdsburg Homes Tour is donated to HEF in support of their mini-grants.  For more information, click here.
